November 10th - Harlies and Leavenworth

I started my day with a private tour of the Harley Davidson factory in Kansas City.
It was private because I was the only one who was there. After a short film about the company and the Kansas City plant, and a short safety talk (Stay within the yellow lines and don't touch anything), I was given safety goggles and a receiver and the tour began.

We (the guide and I) went through the various parts of the factory and saw different stages of the motorcycle assembly process.
The guide mentioned the dress code: everyone must where safety goggles.

After the tour, I drove to Leavenworth, Kansas. My first stop was the Leavenworth Convention and Visitor's Bureau for some information and suggestions.

Next I wanted to take a walk along the Missouri River that runs next to the town, but the gate was closed, so I had to cut my walk short.

By this time it was lunch time. I found a Pizza Hut, but they had no seats, so took my pizza, drove towards the river, and found a lovely spot overlooking the river where I sat and ate my lunch.

Next, I visited Fort Leavenworth. The guard at the entrance was a bit confused by my American Passport and Israeli drivers license, but that didn't stop him from letting me in.

The first stop was the Frontier Army Museum. Next I drove around the fort. There is a self guided tour that goes to various points in the fort, which  I tried to follow.

My last stop was the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth. You can't really visit there, but I drove by and saw it from the outside.

I drove back home through Kansas.

The Rabbi (Scott White, I think) and his wife came over for supper.
